GOOD BYE DEAREST SMART ALEC

In the midst of a busy spring, we have had to say our final good-bye to Smart Alec.

He left us on Monday, May 13, just a few days prior to his 14th birthday.  We are imeasurably saddened and have a gaping hole in our lives.

Emseralde Gets Ready for Summer 2008

We're getting ready for a big year, as this will be another Newport-Bermuda Race for us, double-handed once again.  She splashed on Wednesday, April 23 at New England Boat Works,
and she'll be ready to sail in another week or two.  Can't wait!

At left, ESMERALDE gets a new bottom at Waterline Systems in Portsmouth.

She'll be out of the shed by April 12.  After a few more days on the hard, she'll splash and get her rig, and we then begin the rather lengthy process of commissioning for the race.

Below, ESMERALDE is stripped down on March 21, ready for the truck ride over the bridge and up to Portsmouth, RI where some bottom work will be done and final prep before launching.

Below, a reminder of last summer's wonderful summer cruise in Maine.  Dorsey & Alec row ashore in the early morning light at Round & McGlathery Islands in Merchants Row.

Buckle is one of Alec's favorite spots also.  Here he enjoys the evening view towards Deer Isle.
