Interior
Alignment I:
February
24 - March 2

Alignment
is the first phase after the hull pops from the mould.
Our boat entered alignment about February 24, 2005.
There's lots of progress in the first week: the floor,
bulkheads, thru-hulls, engine, and interior
furniture, all installed in a remarkably short time frame.
Our buddy Tony really took control of this part of the
project and did a fabulous job.

After
the hull comes out of the bold it gets all nicely
wrapped up in plastic for protection, and gets a big
sticker put on it (below, right) that lets everyone know what hull it
is, who the broker is and who the new owner is.
The sticker also identifies the "boat parent", the Sabre employee
who is responsible for nursing all the details along
until it gets delivered to the new owner.
Here
is ESMERALDE in the alignment bay. This is how she
looked the very first time we saw her in person.

We are looking aft inside the hull on March 2, 2005.
The floor is in, thru-hulls are in, and the pan for the
sail-drive has been installed.
On the
right, the bow with the bow wire in place ready for the
chase.
On
the left, the forward bulkhead is in place.
The
vanity in the forward cabin is on the back side of the
same bulkhead.
